Dear Dr. King:
The Emancipation Proclamation Committee of Montgomery is considering a speaker for program to be had January 1, 1956 at Alabama State College. Your name is prominently suggested; hence, we would like to know if you are available for that date.
Since you have participated freely in committee activities, and are well aware of the character of programs previously presented, we will not go into further details. However, we would consider it a favor if we could have your immediate response as to availability and any other particulars.
Very truly yours,
Emancipation Proclamation Committee,
[signed]
C.R. Williams, President.
