Instructions

  1. Read King’s “Eulogy for the Martyred Children.” 

  2. Ask students to think about the young people in their lives who have been lost to violence. Read Langton Hughes’ poem “Kids Who Die.” Ask students to identify young people in their lives who have been cut short because of injustice. 

  3. Using Freedom’s Ring: King’s “I Have a Dream” Speech, explore the theme “A People’s Dream” including the entries for “Investing in Justice and Peace” and “What does it mean to be free?” Ask student to connect these themes to their own lives.
