In preparation for our upcoming conference, The Uplift of All: Gandhi, King, and the Global Struggle for Freedom and Justice, this week, we are introducing one of our guests, Rajmohan Gandhi. We are honored to welcome a representative of Gandhi's family as a speaker on the subject of Mahatma Gandhi's legacy.
Historian, biographer, journalist, and peacemaker, Rajmohan Gandhi divides his time between India and the United States, where he currently serves as Research Professor at the College of Education, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Rajmohan’s last book, published in December 2018, is Modern South India: A History from the 17th Century to Our Times. Other books by him include Understanding the Muslim Mind (1987); Gandhi: The Man, his People and the Empire (2008); Punjab: A History from Aurangzeb to Mountbatten (2013); and Patel: A Life (1990).
In the 1990s, Rajmohan served as a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian parliament.
