Dr. Timothy Lake Visits Institute

Aug 15 2017

On June 29, 2017, Dr. Timothy L. Lake, associate professor of English at Wabash College, visited the King Institute to deliver a seminar named, “Who Loves You More?: Cornel West, Barack Obama and the Political Philosophy of Martin Luther King, Jr.”

Lake discussed Cornel West’s outspoken criticisms of President Obama’s social and economic policies and claimed that Obama hasn’t done justice to carry on Dr. King’s legacy. According to Lake, West correctly understood that King’s love ethic, which favored the poor over the rich, sacrificed politics for justice.

A former King Papers Project intern, Dr. Lake obtained his B.S. in speech communication from Ball State University, masters degrees from University of Notre Dame and Howard University, and doctorate from Bowling Green State University.
