Presidential Medal of Freedom Posthumously Awarded to Civil Rights Workers

On 24 November, President Barack Obama will posthumously award the
Presidential Medal of Freedom to civil rights workers Andrew Goodman, James
Chaney, and Michael Schwerner. Their 1964 murders in Mississippi shocked the
nation and galvanized young volunteers determined to secure the right to
vote for all Americans. Their courage and dedication to justice continues to
inspire us all.
