Thank You for Attending Our MLK Holiday Events

The King Institute was happy to welcome visitors to our annual Open House over the King holiday weekend. Over 100 colleagues, supporters, students, and teachers stopped by as we celebrated the recent publication of Volume VII, and heard musical performances from San Francisco musician Tammy Hall and Stanford vocalist Jessica Anderson (pictured). Professor emerita, author, and activist Jewelle Taylor Gibbs (pictured) gave a talk and signed copies of her new book "Destiny's Child: Memoirs of a Preacher's Daughter," which traced 200 years of African American history through her own family and personal story. Gibbs's book includes her memories of dating King during the period in the early 1950s when both were students in Boston.
