Jorden M. Sharick is the Louisville Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute.

He previously worked as part of the teaching staff for Between Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr., an online high school course the King Institute co-created in partnership with Stanford Digital Education and the National Education Opportunity Network.  Prior to that, he was a research associate for the King Institute’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Papers Project.

Jorden is a first-generation college student and proud alumnus of California’s public university and junior college systems.  He graduated with associate degrees from Moreno Valley Community College and a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from the University of California, Riverside.  He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Harvard Divinity School.

Jorden earned his doctorate in religion from Harvard University, where he studied North American religions, specializing in race and contemporary evangelicalism in the US, with a secondary field of study in anthropology.

His postdoctoral work is focused on curriculum development and community engagement projects that invite Bay Area groups into ongoing conversations about the life, faith, and activism of Martin Luther King, Jr.
